টানা দশ দিনের উদ্বেগ আর লুকোচুরির পর অবশেষে আসামের জঙ্গলে ধরা দিল বক্সা থেকে নিখোঁজ হয়ে যাওয়া বাঘিনি ডুয়ার্স রানি (Doars Rani)। মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যায় উত্তর-পূর্বের এই রাজ্যে ঘুমপাড়ানি গুলিতে কাবু করে খাঁচাবন্দি (tranquillised and caged) করা হয়েছে তাকে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের প্রথম ব্যাঘ্র স্থানান্তর প্রকল্পের (tiger relocation programme) অংশ হিসেবে বিহার থেকে বাংলায় নিয়ে আসা হয়েছিল এই বাঘিনিটিকে। কিন্তু বক্সার আস্তানা ছেড়ে প্রায় ১০০ কিলোমিটার পথ পাড়ি দিয়ে প্রতিবেশী রাজ্য আসামে ঢুকে পড়েছিল সে। অবশেষে বনকর্মীদের দীর্ঘ চেষ্টায় তাকে খাঁচাবন্দি করে ফের বক্সা ব্যাঘ্র প্রকল্পে (Buxa tiger reserve) ফিরিয়ে আনার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়েছে।
Recently, the signal of tigress T-138, which was released in Buxa Tiger Reserve, had gone missing for the past few days. Naturally, this was a cause for concern. However, the forest department team heaved a sigh of relief when the signal was received again. The tigress is moving further ahead from Buxa towards Raimona National Park after crossing the Sankosh River. The tigress was released in West Bengal and has now reached Assam. This area is part of the Buxa–Manas corridor, which can be considered a very old corridor. A pattern has emerged in this tigress’s behaviour. In recent days, 100 percent of the prey she has hunted has been pigs half of them domestic pigs and half wild boars. Although other prey is also available in this area. How important this tigress is for the region and how decisive she could be for the tiger population can be gauged from the fact that teams from the West Bengal and Assam forest departments, along with the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), and even the paramilitary force SSB ( shashtra seema bal), were engaged in the search operation. Finally, on 30 October, the tigress’s signal was received again after 32 hours. This behaviour of tigers can be called a normal occurrence and falls under the category of their natural exploration. Great hopes are pinned on this tigress for a bright future of Buxa Reserve. বাল্মীকি থেকে বক্সা হয়ে সোজা আসাম
বাংলার জঙ্গলে বাঘের সংখ্যা বাড়াতে রাজ্যের প্রথম ব্যাঘ্র স্থানান্তর কর্মসূচির অধীনে বিহারের বাল্মীকি ব্যাঘ্র প্রকল্প (Valmiki tiger reserve) থেকে ডুয়ার্স রানিকে বক্সা ব্যাঘ্র প্রকল্পে নিয়ে আসা হয়েছিল। কিন্তু নতুন পরিবেশে থিতু হওয়ার বদলে দশ দিন আগে আচমকাই বক্সার সীমানা ছাড়িয়ে বাইরে বেরিয়ে যায় বাঘিনিটি। বক্সা থেকে ক্রমাগত পথ চলতে চলতে আন্তঃরাজ্য সীমানা পেরিয়ে আসামের রাইমোনা জাতীয় উদ্যানে (Raimona National Park) ঢুকে পড়ে সে। এই দশ দিনের যাত্রাপথে বক্সা থেকে অসম পর্যন্ত প্রায় ১০০ কিলোমিটার দূরত্ব অতিক্রম করে ফেলেছিল ডুয়ার্স রানি।

রুদ্ধশ্বাস অভিযান
ভিন্রাজ্যে চলে যাওয়া বাঘিনিটিকে নিরাপদে ফিরিয়ে আনা ছিল বন দপ্তরের কাছে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের বনমন্ত্রী মনোজ কুমার ওরাওঁ (Manoj Kumar Oraon) জানিয়েছেন, ডুয়ার্স রানিকে ধরার এই বিশেষ অভিযানের জন্য বাংলা থেকে তিনটি হাতি (three elephants) এবং আর্থ মুভার (earth movers) নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছিল। বাঘিনিটি যাতে কোনওভাবেই আবার ঘন জঙ্গলে পালিয়ে যেতে না পারে, সেজন্য নির্দিষ্ট এলাকাটি চারপাশ থেকে জাল দিয়ে ঘিরে ফেলা হয় (cordoned off with nets)।
চূড়ান্ত সতর্কতার সঙ্গে একের পর এক প্রচেষ্টা চালাতে থাকেন বনকর্মীরা। একাধিক বার বিফল হওয়ার পর অবশেষে মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যায় ঘুমপাড়ানি গুলি ছুঁড়ে বাঘিনিটিকে কাবু করতে সক্ষম হয় উদ্ধারকারী দল। তার পরেই তাকে নিরাপদে খাঁচাবন্দি করা হয়। বনমন্ত্রী মনোজ কুমার ওরাওঁ জানিয়েছেন, সফলভাবে খাঁচাবন্দি করার পর এবার ডুয়ার্স রানিকে ফের বক্সা ব্যাঘ্র প্রকল্পে ফিরিয়ে আনা হচ্ছে।
